The research aimed to determine the level of mastery of volleyball technical fundamentals in fifth-grade secondary school students. The study was developed under a quantitative approach, basic type, with a descriptive level and a non-experimental cross-sectional design, employing descriptive, observational, and statistical methods for data collection and analysis. The population consisted of 150 students from the educational institution, while the sample was non-probabilistic, composed of 25 students selected based on accessibility and relevance criteria. Data were collected using an observation checklist, which allowed the assessment of the level of mastery of volleyball technical fundamentals: serve, reception, setting, and spike. The results showed that students are predominantly at the “in progress” and “achieved” levels, with lower representation at the “beginning” and “outstanding” levels. Additionally, greater difficulties were identified in the execution of techniques such as serving and spiking, highlighting the need to strengthen systematic teaching and pedagogical practice in volleyball. In summary, the study provides relevant information for improving Physical Education teaching, supported by the statistical analysis of the data obtained, showing that most students are concentrated at the “in progress” level, followed by the “achieved”, “beginning”, and, to a lesser extent, “outstanding” levels. This reveals a predominant tendency toward an intermediate development of technical skills. These findings guide the implementation of pedagogical strategies aimed at progressively strengthening technical fundamentals and achieving higher levels of performance, thus contributing to the comprehensive learning of students through the practice of volleyball.
