The main objective of this study was to determine how children's stories in Spanish influence the oral communication skills of 5-year-old children at the Carmen Soto Flores Early Childhood Education Institution in Uyuvirca, 2023. The methodology used in this study was an applied approach, with an explanatory level and a pre-experimental design that included the administration of a pretest and a posttest. The population consisted of 11 children from the early childhood education level, and the sample also consisted of 11 5-year-old children. The technique employed was observation, and a checklist was used as the instrument. The validity of the instrument was tested through expert judgment and reliability. The nonparametric Wilcoxon test was applied for hypothesis contrast with a 95% confidence level and a 5% significance level. The collected data were organized into frequency tables and statistical graphs. The results concluded that the use of children's stories significantly influences the development of oral communication skills in their native language, as well as their respective dimensions. A p-value of 0.003 <0.05 indicates that the story improves oral communication in 5-year-old students.
